We report observations of the plants used in the self-sustainable, intelligent module under Norwegian conditions after the first winter.
The winter survival of the plants used was good, with only 3 dead Plantago lanceolata and one each of Sanguisorba officinalis, Potentilla argentea and Anthoxanthum odoratum. In total, 6 out of 240 plants did not survive the winter. We found no consistent differences between soil types for the species tested in both fine and coarse soil mixtures. Winter temperatures have been moderate with air temperatures in the range from +10 to -10 C, but with strong winds.
